Sesbania: A useful genus of plants and its presence in SE Asia

PhD defence, Wednesday 26 February 2020, Saowalak Bunma

2020.02.26 | Jette Konradsen

Saowalak Bunma

During her studies, Saowalak researched Sesbania, a pantropical genus in the plant subfamily Papilionoideae, Family Fabaceae (Leguminosae). Saowalak Bunma studied the economic botany and nomenclature of Sesbania on global scale and she made a taxonomic treatment of Sesbania in Southeast Asia. Saowalak Bunma also made a taxonomic treatment of the related genus Gliricidia in Thailand.

The new research findings contribute to clarification of economic importance and scientific names of Sesbania worldwide, Sesbania species taxonomy in Southeast Asia and Thailand, and Gliricidia species in Thailand.

The PhD degree was completed at Bioscience, Aarhus University.
